Can NPC's spawning inside the map cause crashes?

Postby BlankJones » Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:09 pm

I'm having some major crashing issues with my server. Sometimes it crashes 3 times a day on one map, then once a day on another. I noticed that on gm_atomic (the one that crashes once a day) usually has a load of NPC's and Resources under the map. Whenever it crashes I see no errors. It stays offline for atleast 5 minutes before going back online, and that's IF i spam the start server button. I exempted it from restarting if it goes over 90% CPU usage, still no dice. Any ideas?

NPC spawning under the map should not be causing the crash. I know there was a recent issue with atomic with a GMod update that recently got roleld back. So make sure the server is up to date.

To keep the NPC's from spawning underground, rais up the spawn node for the affected areas.

If you're playing revelations (if you have it) that map crashes inexplicably alot. Try to make your spawn grids at least 100 units above the ground, because that's how tall zombies are

Odd because gm_atomic is the least one to crash. I don't think it's any problem with my bandwidth or machine, ever other server that reaches over 30 players works perfectly fine. I have ULX installed, PAC3, Wire, and Falco's Prop Protection, might that cause any issues?

As we don't use ULX, PAC3, or FPP, we can't tell you if those would. Wire hasn't caused us issues in the past, for the most part. Best guess is to look into any modifications you made, or unofficially supported addons. Other than that, it might be your host fucking up.

i use all but PAC3 which has been known to be buggy anyway. the rest work just fine for my server without crashes.

You can drop FPP, PNRP has its own prop protection built into it.

I use it for the tool gun restriction mostly. But I think the best option for me would be to just lower the amount of connections, considering it mainly crashes when it hits full capacity. Thanks for the help again!
