eldarstorm wrote: Also, I do not appreciate you tracking down personal information of mine and posting it on the forums. I know this feat is not really that hard, but still. You should be careful with doing that stuff, track to much and its a federal offence and you will be reported.

You wish it was a federal offense :P if you don't know, there are very few laws regulating cyber-crimes right now [though this is rapidly changing]. Regardless, even if there were numerous laws protecting you, I've released only public information.
Code: Select all
Deleted by Eldar. And yes I know this was easy to get, but you still posted it after I told you not to.

Legality:
Code: Select all
In the USA, there was a Supreme Court case regarding an anti-abortion
group that was posting such information about doctors. The court held
that the posting is legal unless it is accompanied by a specific
incitement to violence (or any other illegal activity regarding the
individual whose information is posted). SRC: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=537276

No violence here.

Also, I believe there are laws requiring domain registrants to provide accurate details when registering the domain, and the websites that log this kind of information are of incredible help to government agencies. It's only fair that the public gets to use them as well, as it could be equally helpful for a regular civilian. Imagine if someone had an offer to buy your domain for 115% of its worth, wouldn't you want a way for that person to contact you? That's why the information is supposed to be public, along with other reasons I'm sure.

That's nice, I wasn't aware you kept logs. At first I thought they were forged, but then I looked at the dates, they seem to match up. I suppose I could drag this out and be like "but tharz no boxxy on there, dat ain't me", but then if I ever did get in game, you'd have my steamID to cross reference with this list.

You still didn't get rid of the damages caused by that website. If you haven't noticed, it's FUD. Meaning, your AV isn't going to find anything, no matter how many times you scan. Shouldn't be long until you start noticing irregularities.
And before the rest of you go like "he just admitted to h4x0ring him! call the FBI!!!", I didn't do anything to him, I'm in no way connected to the site, and I've committed no federal crimes. The only one I'd be close to committing is the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act:
Code: Select all
Criminal Offenses
Knowingly accessing a computer without authorization in order to obtain national security data
Intentionally accessing a computer without authorization to obtain:
Information contained in a financial record of a financial institution, or contained in a file of a consumer reporting agency on a consumer.
Information from any department or agency of the United States
Information from any protected computer if the conduct involves an interstate or foreign communication
Intentionally accessing without authorization a government computer and affecting the use of the government's operation of the computer.
Knowingly accessing a protected computer with the intent to defraud and there by obtaining anything of value.
Knowingly causing the transmission of a program, information, code, or command that causes damage or intentionally accessing a computer without authorization, and as a result of such conduct, causes damage that results in:
Loss to one or more persons during any one-year period aggregating at least $5,000 in value.
The modification or impairment, or potential modification or impairment, of the medical examination, diagnosis, treatment, or care of one or more individuals.
        Physical injury to any person.
A threat to public health or safety.
Damage affecting a government computer system
Knowingly and with the intent to defraud, trafficking in a password or similar information through which a computer may be accessed without authorization.

Whereas a "protected computer" is defined as:
Code: Select all
exclusively for the use of a financial institution or the United States Government, or, in the case of a computer not exclusively for such use, used by or for a financial institution or the United States Government and the conduct constituting the offense affects that use by or for the financial institution or the Government; or
    which is used in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce or communication, including a computer located outside the United States that is used in a manner that affects interstate or foreign commerce or communication of the United States;

Furthermore, I'd really love to get back in game. I haven't done anything destructive since the forum spam, and I've stopped that now. If you could un-ban me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Also, some appraisal website stated that your webserver is running off IIS 6.0, I did some scanning and didn't find a specific version, but if it is 6.0, you should consider updating, there are numerous public exploits for that specific version [most just being stack exhaustion, but still a nuisance.

The ban stays.

It does not matter that you admitted to everything or not. I do not appreciate people doing this crap in the first place.

Also, as I said before, I know its not hard to get my info. All you had to do is use godaddy to do a who is on my domain, big woop there. But I still do not appreciate it beeing posted as I have said before.

You may edit the information out if you want to.

I find it disappointing that I won't be able to play on your game mode anymore, are you sure there's no way I can get back on? Maybe I could help you out with the coding? As a community-service type punishment, you know?

As Post and Eldar has already posted a couple times, the ban stays. You can be disappointed all you want, you have every right to be disappointed.

You make us seem like we're naive or stupid, we don't need to hear your bullshit stories about this and that, we know what you did, you do too. You're banned, that's that.

Yes, I understand that.

I'm not saying you're naive or stupid, in the beginning I attempted to talk my way out of things, much like you would do if you get pulled over by a cop for speeding, but now that all hope is lost, I'm dropping the act.

I accept the ban, but I would like to help the community in an attempt to work toward getting unbanned. All in good faith. Of course, if you don't need my help, then I suppose I should see myself off then, but I would like to hear this from eldarstorm or post.

I do aprpeciate the polite tone you have been using as Boxxy, but in all conscience I can not/will not, undo the ban.

I will be locking this thread after this since its pretty much come to a close. You are welcome to continue on the forums if you wish. I will not ban your Boxxy account unless you give me reason.
