  1. Update Progress and Twitter

    Yes, I said twitter. Never really had a need to use it really, but now it seems I do. I apreciate all the PMs I get asking for updates, but I realized this was a better means of a more active update method. You can follow be at http://twitter.com/eldarstorm

    As for updates, here it goes:

    • Datastream to Net code conversion – Done
    • Derma issues – Not so much. Its beeing a pain.
    • Other issues due to the new changes – Not as bad as I thouht. No idea at the moment TBH

    Ok, the las bullet is true, I thought it was rather bad untill I setup a dedicated Dev server running beta, after that, alot of the issues went away. We did not really build PNRP to run off of singleplayer.

  2. The Hoster from Hell

    Bit off the beaten track from the stuff I generally post, but I thought I would give the world a bit of fair warning about these guys.

    As you know TBU (The Builders Union) has a Minecraft server. In a effort to improve performance and stability we looked at a few VPS Hosters, one in particular had some good prices. One of those cases of too good to be true it seems.

    The hoster in question is http://alienvps.com/. By no means would I ever recommend these guys. Their site indicates that you get “Instant setup” when you purchase a server. It has now been almost 48 hours since we purchased the server and still no setup. To answer some of the devils advocates out there, they charged and received payment shortly after purchase, so no wait there for them getting their money. I understand that its a holiday weekend, but two things on that. One, we purchased this Wed night, and they never responded saying they were gone or anything. I have been in contact with their Live chat several times, and the popular response that I get is “you will get your email soon”. We have placed a ticket with their billing, and have made attempts to contact them through live chat, but it seems even the people on their support chat cant get a response from their own billing department.

    All in all, rants aside. I would not suggest these guys, and they should at least remove the “Instant setup” bit from their page.

  3. PostNukeRP 2 Year Anniversary

    Yep, this month marks 2 years for PNRP.

    What all is going on for those who are wondering:
    Dev work has been a bit slow as of late, but once Lost has is Net back it will kick back up into overdrive. Lost reports that he may have made a break through on NPC AI while he has been away.

    I have been side tracked with other projects as of late, mainly Minecraft and work. (Plus the Skyrim release did not help). I have also been working some more on a couple of maps.

    Post has a new weapon that will be comming to the Live server in the near future.

    Crazy has a new map that he has been working on, its turning out pretty good.

    Metroid has a few projects that he has been working on, plus the Minecraft stuff as well (and Skyrim).

    Once the next Dev cycle starts up, there should be alot of changes and fixes in the next patch. Dont forget to check the forums.

  5. World of Warcraft Addon Pack & Info on next PNRP Map

    The pack of addons that I have thrown together has been updated as of last night. You can find the link in the Downloads section.

    I have been working on this for a while, and have started back on it again. The map is PN_Vault121, this was originally in the WastedWaters map, but I ran out of brushes. So I split the vault off into its own map. As you can probably guess the map is a Vault, there will be a sizeable above ground area, but nothing as larg as Wasted Waters or Post Nuke.

    There is still alot more to be done on this map even before it gets into initial testing. The main Vault facility is compleat for the most part, so I am now working on the larg cavern and above ground areas.

     

    As for my other maps PostNuke and WastedWaters, I am still workign on those as well. WastedWaters, since I have had so many problems with it, may only see one more release before I hang it up on that map. I have learned alot working on that map, and realized I have made it overly complex.

    PostNuke for the most part is done. Just a few fixes here and there and I should have RC1 out. The largest update to that map will be a revamp of the skybox to better align it with the ground.

  6. Alice: Madness Returns

    Been a while since I posted anything other than patch notes, but I figure this game is worth mentioning.

    I am sure most of us remember the first American McGee’s Alice game, a dark take on the world of Alice in Wonderland. The sequal looks to be just as interesting, Alice: Madness Returns.
